DofE Networking
Earlier last month, Ava attended the very first DofE Approved Activity Provider (AAP) Networking Event at HSBC in Birmingham. It was a brilliant event that gave us a great opportunity to connect with other AAP managers delivering a wide range of activities, from outdoor adventure programmes to cooking and creative writing residentials. The event also gave Ava a chance to chat with DofE staff themselves, gaining insight into how we can continue to strengthen our DofE Residential delivery directly.
Throughout the day, Ava was able to learn from experienced providers about how to deliver a high-quality Gold Residential, from creating an inclusive environment and strengthening safeguarding practices, to the small details that can make a residential truly memorable. It was an incredibly valuable opportunity to hear from organisations and individuals who have been running DofE programmes for years, which will allow us to bring new knowledge and ideas back to our own residential programme.

As a new DofE Approved Activity Provider, we’re proud that all of our rides can count towards your Gold DofE Residential and are open to anyone aged 16+. If you’re joining us for your Residential this year, we’re excited to deliver an experience that not only challenges you on the bike, but meets the highest DofE standards too.
Cambridge Pub Quiz

This month, we partnered with Cambridge Cycling Club to host a pub quiz and it didn’t disappoint. With a great turnout and generous donations on the night, it was a brilliant evening.
Now in its second year, the Cambridge quiz is quickly becoming a firm favourite in our calendar. Winning teams took home water bottles and t-shirts, while the award for best team name went to “Too Tyred To Think Of A Name”, who proudly claimed a Bike the UK for MS jersey.
A special thank you to alumni and board member, Richard Kessell, for MCing the night as chief quiz master and to everyone that helped set up the event.

Behind the Scenes
It’s been a busy month for the team. We’ve continued refining and improving our website to make it easier for riders to find information and connect with us. The first of our rider preparation emails have also gone out, helping to guide riders through training and fundraising so they feel confident and ready as their trips approach.
Alongside this, we’ve been developing new relationships and exploring sponsorship opportunities with companies that could support and enhance the rider experience out on the road.
Accessible Cycling Sessions
Designed to remove barriers and create welcoming spaces, these sessions are open to anyone who would like to take part or get involved.
Planning is well underway for our spring accessible cycling sessions, which will be taking place in Bath, the Forest of Dean, Portsmouth, and Swindon. These sessions give people living with MS the opportunity to try adapted bikes in a safe and supportive environment, enjoy time outdoors, connect with others, and build confidence through cycling.
You can read our latest blog to find out more about the dates, locations, and how to join us.

Saying Goodbye to Amelia
This month, we’re saying goodbye to one of our placement students, Amelia. Over the past six months, Amelia has played a key role across a number of projects and we’re incredibly grateful for the time and effort she’s given to Bike the UK for MS, she will certainly be missed. We wish her all the best in her next chapter and hope she enjoyed her time with us.
