Fundraising to Fight MS
Thinking about joining us at Bike the UK for MS? Take a look at the fundraising goals you will need to meet to make the most of your trip and impact as many people as possible!
The money you raise will have a direct and lasting impact on the community of over 150,000 people in the UK living with MS. You may or may not have a close connection to MS. Either way, when you complete your adventure with us, you will have a deep understanding of who we are riding for. It is our job to connect you with the cause and our privilege to distribute your hard-earned fundraising to organisations and individuals that need it most.
Important Fundraising Deadlines:
- We ask cyclists to raise their respective fundraising goal by the start date of the trip you are participating in.
- John O’Groats to Land’s End £1.50 per mile (£1,530)
- North Coast 500 £1.75 per mile (£965)
- Lon Las Cymru £2 per mile (£520)
- Royal Chilterns Way £1.50 per mile (£275)
- In the two months following your acceptance, you need to raise 20% of the total fundraising goal. This will secure your spot on the team and ensure we are not holding spots for people who aren’t planning to ride.
- Everyone should have raised at least half the total goal two months before the trip’s start date. For example, you should have raised at least £765 in April if you are taking on John O’Groats to Land’s End. Encouraging you not to fall behind on your fundraising goal!
- If you exceed your fundraising minimum, we will be able to give more to the amazing organisations that we support!

Where do the pounds go?
Exciting projects we have run previously include accessible cycling sessions for those with MS. We have also funded exercise classes to reduce MS symptoms, funded transport costs to bring the community together and reduce isolation, and helped get personal grants to fund wheelchairs to help individuals maintain their independence.
Fundraising Guidelines:
- If you have not reached the halfway fundraising amount two months before the trip, we will be in contact to see if we can help. This is when Bike the UK for MS begins spending money on your behalf. We want to ensure it is being spent on those who will meet their goal and participate in the ride.
- If you’re enrolled on a Bike the UK for MS team, you cannot transfer or raise funds for another rider in the organisation. This is because donors have actively chosen to support you and we need to honour that. Additionally, any funds raised above the fundraising minimum may not be transferred or carried over to a future ride. Due to funds already being used that fiscal year for our MS projects.
- We encourage every cyclist to set a fundraising goal over the minimum amount. The more you raise, the more we can help people living with MS and donate to research!
