For the 2025–26 academic year, we’re delighted to welcome four new placement students to our team. They are joining us for their university placement year, taking time out from their studies to volunteer with Bike the UK for MS. They all bring unique skills, interests, and motivations, but share one common goal, to make a difference for people living with MS.
Let’s introduce you to the team!
Ava
Ava has just finished her second year at Loughborough University, where she studies Sports and Exercise Psychology. Passionate about sport, she has competed in cheerleading and dance throughout her time at university.
For the coming year, Ava will be working remotely from her home near Manchester. She’s already had a really great start to her placement, describing her first three months with Bike the UK for MS as a brilliant experience where she’s learnt so much. In August, she joined the team on the Lon Las Cymru ride, where she met and worked with many inspiring people along the way, she describes this as the highlight of her time at BTUKFMS so far.
When she began her placement, Ava had limited knowledge of both cycling and multiple sclerosis. However, through meeting riders and members of the MS community, she’s already been able to learn a great deal, and feels motivated to keep raising awareness and funds for MS. Ava is looking forward to the rest of her placement year with Bike the UK for MS as she continues to meet inspiring people and make a difference for those living with MS.

We’re so grateful to have Ava on the team this year. Her positivity and eagerness to learn have already made a big impact, and we can’t wait to see how she continues to grow throughout her placement.
Niamh

Currently based in Essex, Niamh is a Health and Exercise Science student at the University of Bath. Outside of her studies, she plays rugby and loves spending time outdoors, making Bike the UK for MS a perfect fit.
One of the highlights of her placement so far has been taking part in the Lôn Las Cymru ride and helping to Route Lead the trip. She describes it as an incredible experience, not only for the stunning scenery across Wales, but for the strong sense of teamwork among the riders. Seeing everyone push themselves for such a meaningful cause is something she’ll never forget.
Niamh outlines her time at BTUKFMS so far as an unforgettable experience, and is thoroughly enjoying her time here. She is looking forward to helping make the 2026 season one of the biggest yet, continuing to grow the community and inspiring more people to get involved.
Niamh brings incredible energy and commitment to everything she does. Her enthusiasm for the charity’s mission and leadership on our rides make her a real asset to the team, we’re really excited to have her on board for the year!
Amelia
Amelia is studying Sports and Exercise Psychology at Loughborough University and will be working from home near Essex. Her favourite aspect of sports psychology is applying theories to elite sports environments, helping athletes develop the mental skills, and strategies that enhance their training, performance, and wellbeing.
Since joining, Amelia has especially enjoyed launching the 2026 calendar and creating engaging social media content. She’s also been working closely with Aimee on the MS Partners Programme, connecting with MS charities and therapy centres across the UK. This has been one of her highlights here at BTUKFMS so far, as she finds it really inspiring to learn about the amazing work these organisations do, and is passionate about collaborating with them to raise awareness and funds for people living with MS. She’s excited to see the continued impact of BTUKFMS riders and how their efforts support MS groups across the country.

Dance has always been a major part of Amelia’s life, giving her the chance to be part of supportive and uplifting teams and make lifelong friends. She’s excited to bring that same sense of teamwork, energy, and positivity to the BTUKFMS team.
Amelia’s creativity and enthusiasm is really inspiring and we’re excited to see how her work continues to inspire others and strengthen our connections across the MS community.
Aimee
Aimee is also a Sports and Exercise Psychology student at Loughborough University, currently living in Darlington in the North East. She has always been an active person, growing up competing in dance across the country and then joining the university cheerleading team.
Although she hasn’t been with Bike the UK for MS for long, Aimee describes it as a truly rewarding experience. The cause is very personal to her, as her mum lives with MS, giving her first-hand insight into the challenges that come with MS. She describes being part of the BTUKFMS team as really inspiring, and she’s passionate about continuing to support a cause that means so much to her.
During her time with the charity, Aimee has particularly enjoyed working with alumni and seeing just how vital they are to helping BTUKFMS grow. She has also loved building new connections with MS charities and therapy centres with Amelia, finding it inspiring to see so many organisations working together toward the same mission. Aimee is excited to see how the charity continues to grow in the coming year and how she can contribute to making a difference for people living with MS.

Aimee’s passion and personal connection to the cause make her contribution really meaningful. We are thrilled to have her as part of the team and can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make over the coming year.
Looking Ahead
We’re really excited to welcome Ava, Niamh, Amelia, and Aimee to the team! Over the next year, they’ll be involved in everything from supporting rides and connecting with MS groups to creating content, building partnerships, and helping shape future events. Each of them is eager to learn, meet inspiring people, and contribute making an impact on people living with MS.
Here’s to another exciting year of cycling, community, and making a difference together.
