Back of cylists on L'Etape Tour

Bike the UK for MS Partners with MS-UK for L’Étape du Tour de France 2026

We’re excited to announce a brand new opportunity for our community for 2026 through a partnership with MS-UK.

For the first time, we have access to a limited number of charity places for L’Étape du Tour de France, one of the most iconic and sought-after amateur cycling events in the world.

Ride an Official Tour de France Stage

Held on Sunday 19th July 2026, L’Étape gives amateur cyclists the rare opportunity to ride an official Tour de France stage on closed roads before the professionals arrive just days later.

The 2026 route is expected to be one of the toughest editions in recent years, covering 170km and an enormous 5,400m of climbing through the French Alps.

Taking on Legendary Alpine Climbs

Starting in Le Bourg-d’Oisans and finishing atop the legendary Alpe d’Huez, riders will take on some of cycling’s most famous climbs including:

  • Col de la Croix de Fer
  • Col du Télégraphe
  • Col du Galibier
  • Col de Sarenne

For many cyclists, these climbs are names usually only seen on television during the Tour de France. L’Étape offers the opportunity to experience them firsthand.

A Limited Opportunity Through MS-UK

Public places for the event sold out rapidly, but through our partnership with MS-UK, we have secured 5 charity places for riders in our community. While this is not a Bike the UK for MS organised ride in the same style as our supported tours, we’re excited to help connect our riders and alumni community with this unique challenge while supporting the wider MS community through fundraising.

This opportunity is likely best suited to experienced cyclists or alumni riders looking for a bigger climbing challenge than our current route lineup. Riders should expect a demanding day in the saddle and should be prepared to commit to structured training over the coming month ahead of the event.

What Riders Will Receive

Riders joining the event through Bike the UK for MS and MS-UK will receive:

  • A guaranteed place in the event
  • A Bike the UK for MS cycling jersey
  • Fundraising support
  • Event communications and updates
  • Support from both Bike the UK for MS and MS-UK events team

Apply Now!

We’re really excited to see members of our community take on one of cycling’s most legendary events while raising funds to support people living with multiple sclerosis. You can check out the full event details on our L’Étape du Tour de France route page.

With only 5 places available, we’d encourage interested riders to apply as soon as possible.
