A Fantastic Exeter Golf Fundraiser!

Earlier this month, one of our alumni Adam alongside Savills hosted another hugely successful fundraising golf day in Exeter, raising an incredible £3,500 in support of people living with multiple sclerosis. A big thank you to both Adam and Savills for hosting and organising this fundraiser, we know how much work goes into putting on an event like this, and we’re incredibly grateful.

Adam first rode with Bike the UK for MS on our Coast to Coast challenge and has remained an amazing supporter ever since. Over the years, he has helped organise a number of fundraising events continuing to make a great difference for the MS community. The cause is one that is close to Adam’s heart, and his ongoing commitment is something we really appreciate.

The golf day brought together golfers from across the local community for a day of friendly competition, fundraising, and raising awareness of MS. While the sunshine made for a beautiful day on the course, the strong winds certainly kept the golfers on their toes! Throughout the day, teams took part in a variety of competitions, including longest drive, closest to the pin, and amount of golf balls lost. Despite everyone’s best efforts, more than 300 golf balls disappeared into the Exeter countryside by the end of the day!

Alongside the golf, the event provided a fantastic opportunity to introduce more people to Bike the UK for MS and the work we do. We had some great help from one of our placement students Ava and alumni Claudia Wood who were on hand throughout the day to chat with golfers, share information about our rides, and explain how fundraising helps us support the wider MS community. A huge thank you to longtime alumni Claudia for all of her support. Not only did she help out at the golf day, but each year she and her partner Gary host a rest stop at their home on JOGLE each year and open their doors to both the team and local MS Society group.

Organising an event of this scale takes a huge amount of work. Adam’s efforts, alongside the support of Savills and everyone involved in the organisation of the day, helped the event go smoothly and was enjoyed by all who attended. They raised an amazing £3,500 on the day and this will help us continue to raise awareness of MS and support people, groups, and services across the MS community. On behalf of everyone at Bike the UK for MS, we would like to say a huge thank you to Adam, Savills, Claudia, and every golfer who took part. Events like this make such a difference to a small charity like Bike the UK for MS, and we really do appreciate everyone giving up their time, getting involved, and supporting the cause. The money raised will make a real difference!
