November Team Updates

As the nights draw in and the year winds down, the BTUKFMS team has been busy behind the scenes. Here’s what we’ve been working on this November.

Niamh

Niamh has been leading the charge on refreshing our website for the 2026 season, updating route pages and making it easier for riders to plan their next challenge. She’s also been out on the road visiting universities in Bristol, Bath, and Bangor, meeting students at fresher and placement fairs to share what we do and inspire more young people to take on a ride for MS.

On top of that, Niamh has been developing an exciting new project, a collection of beautifully designed route map prints, created as the perfect keepsake for riders to celebrate and display their achievements. They’re ready now in time for the perfect Christmas gift.

Amelia

Amelia’s focus this month has been all about fundraising, she has launched a full series of blogs and emails designed to help riders kick-start their fundraising journeys. The series covers everything from setting up profiles and planning events to using social media effectively. It’s really important for our riders to start fundraising early so they can make the biggest possible impact for people living with MS and Amelia’s work is playing a key role in helping them do just that.

Alongside this, Amelia has been reaching out to MS charities this month to help expand our connections and see how we can help the wider MS community. She has been involved in several inspiring conversations about how we can collaborate and support one another’s work in the future. Additionally, Amelia also joined Niamh at the University of Bristol, helping to share our mission with students and inspire them to get involved.

Ava

Ava’s had a busy and exciting month, continuing to make great progress across several projects. She’s been leading campus outreach at the University of Bangor alongside Niamh helping to spread the word about our rides next summer. She also visited the University of Bath’s placement fair to chat with students about our placement opportunities and explain what it’s like to work with Bike the UK for MS.

Ava has also been helping to launch an exciting new opportunity for Bike the UK for MS, as we work towards becoming an official Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential Activity Provider. Through her training, we’ll soon be able to qualify as a Gold DofE award residential. Alongside this, she’s been drafting a National Lottery grant application to expand our Spring program of accessible cycling sessions in Bath and Forest of Dean for those living with MS.

Aimee

Aimee has been leading the way on this month’s Virtual Rest Stop, putting together engaging stories and content for you to enjoy. She’s also been heavily involved in the Alumni Ambassador Programme, following our second alumni call this month, which provided valuable feedback on how we can grow and improve. If you’re interested in joining our ambassador team send us an email to learn more.

Building on those insights, Aimee has been involved in developing a new campaign to help prospective riders book one-to-one calls with the team, giving them the chance to ask questions and feel more confident before signing up. She’s also been working with Amelia to build new connections with MS charities for future collaborations, while beginning the early planning for our 2026 rides, including accommodation and van hire options.

James

James has been focusing on the bigger picture this month, leading our Q4 Board Meeting to wrap up the 2024/25 financial year and supporting the team across several key projects, including the Alumni Ambassador Programme, Content Strategy, University Outreach, and the Rider Stewardship Journey.

He’s been instrumental in strengthening our approach to university engagement and improving how we support riders from sign-up through to the start line. James also met with a number of university clubs to explore collaboration opportunities aimed at increasing rider participation. Alongside his UK work, he’s been managing operations for Bike the US for MS, keeping both organisations moving forward as we plan for an exciting 2026 season.

October has been a busy month for BTUKFMS, from growing our university connections to developing new ways to support riders. We’re grateful to everyone who continues to support us – Our riders, alumni, volunteers, and partners, and we are looking forward to the coming months.
