Where We’re Staying on Lôn Las Cymru 2026

One of the questions riders often ask before the trip is what the accommodation will actually be like each night. This guide gives an overview of where the team will be staying on our 2026 Lôn Las Cymru ride, along with the facilities we currently know about and a few useful notes for each stop.

As with any group trip, a few details can still change. If anything important does shift, we’ll share updates directly with the team. For now, this should give you a good sense of what to expect and help you prepare for the ride.

Day 0 – Friday 14 August – Holyhead

Location: Canolfan Gymunedol Gwelfor
Stay type: Indoor

What to expect:
We’ll be staying at Canolfan Gymunedol (Community Centre) Gwelfor in Holyhead, which will also be our orientation location that evening. It should be a good practical base for the start of the trip, with indoor sleeping space and a useful setup for getting everyone together before we set off the next morning.

Facilities:
Toilets:
Available on site
Showers: Not currently confirmed
Kitchen access: Yes there is a large fully equipped kitchen however just confirming if we have access.
Charging points: Plenty available

Nearby:
Once orientation is finished, Holyhead has plenty of useful town-centre amenities and food options if anyone needs to pick up supplies or grab something to eat.

Notes:
There aren’t showers at the centre but working on options in town instead.

Day 1 – Saturday 15 August – Porthmadog

Location: Porthmadog Football Club
Stay type: Camping

What to expect:
Tonight we’ll be camping at Porthmadog Football Club. The club is based at Y Traeth, just off the bypass, so it sits a little out of town but still close enough to make food and supply runs quite manageable. It should be a straightforward first night, with the bonus of changing room showers after a hard opening day.

Facilities:
Toilets: Available via the club
Showers: Available via the club changing rooms
Kitchen access: Not expected
Charging points: Likely limited

Nearby:
Although the ground is a little outside the centre, Porthmadog has plenty of useful food and supply options. Tesco Superstore is in town and open daily from 7am to 11pm. A few easy options for food include Creel Fish & Chips, Glaslyn Tandoori, Wilko and Port Café, Deli & Restaurant.

Notes:
This is a good night to keep things simple. Shower, head into town for food, pick up anything you need for the next day, and settle in.

Day 2 – Sunday 16 August – Llanidloes

Location: Llanidloes Rugby Football Club
Stay type: Camping

What to expect:
Tonight we’ll be camping at Llanidloes RFC. It’s another practical overnight stop, with access to the club changing rooms and showers after a challenging day on the road.

Facilities:
Toilets: Available via the club
Showers: Available via the club changing rooms
Kitchen access: None expected
Charging points: Likely limited

Nearby:
The club is a reasonable distance from town, but there are a number of food options once you get there. Sylhet Bangladeshi Restaurant has been a big hit in years gone by, both for eating in and takeaway, and some riders have brought food back to the club.

Notes:
This is another good “head into town for dinner” evening, especially if riders want a bit of choice.

Day 3 – Monday 17 August – Talybont-on-Usk

Location: Henderson Hall Village Hub
Stay type: Indoor

What to expect:
We’ll be staying indoors at Henderson Hall in Talybont-on-Usk. This should be one of the more comfortable and well-equipped nights of the trip, with a large village hall and a bit more space to spread out.

Facilities:
Toilets: Available on site
Showers: Available on site
Kitchen access: Fully fitted kitchen
Charging points: Likely available

Nearby:
Talybont-on-Usk is a small village rather than a large town, so nearby options are a little more limited than at some of the other stops.

Notes:
This should be one of the easier nights of the trip for getting cleaned up, charging devices and having a bit more room.

Day 4 – Tuesday 18 August – Cardiff

Location: No overnight accommodation provided
Stay type: Finish day

What to expect:
We do not provide accommodation on the final night, as most riders head home by train after the finish and Cardiff is a very good transport hub for doing that. After the finish celebration, we’ll have showers available at the nearby Fitness Quarter, giving everyone a chance to freshen up, gather their gear and make their way home more comfortably.

Facilities:
Toilets:
Available at Fitness Quarter
Showers: Available at Fitness Quarter
Changing space: Available at Fitness Quarter

Nearby:
Cardiff is easy to travel from, and if anyone does need to stay overnight we can provide a list of nearby hotel options.

Notes:
Some riders may head off quite quickly after the finish, while others may want a little more time to shower, reorganise kit and celebrate properly. Either way, the plan is to make the end of the trip feel smooth and manageable.
