Get out and Move 4 MS in January

#Move4MS

This January, Bike the UK for MS is going to #Move4MS as we aim to walk, run, swim and cycle 130,000km – one for each of the people living with MS in the UK.

You can get involved too by joining our Strava club to log your kilometres, tagging us on social media @biketheukforms, using the hashtag #Move4MS and donating to the cause. Want more information? Check out the #Move4MS page for all the details.

Why are we choosing to #Move4MS as our January challenge?

  1. Take satisfaction because you know that every step, pedal or stroke you take in the #Move4MS challenge contributes to a collective journey of support and awareness for the 130,000 people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the UK.
  2. Winter can be a hard time to stay active and so by joining us as we #Move4MS you can feel great by kick starting your 2024 by being active throughout the month of January.
  3. Be part of a community of people in the Bike the UK for MS family all taking on the challenge to #Move4MS together this January.
  4. Did you know that 2024 is our tenth birthday? #Move4MS is a great way for you to celebrate with us as we look back on 10 years where we have raised £375,000 to support those living with MS and we look forward to the next 10 years where we want to raise even more! You and your supporters can donate HERE to help end MS.

The Bike the UK for MS team are ready and raring to go. UK Programme Manager Felix Young is pledging to move 1,000km in January – just 130 times that and we will have completed the challenge!

Alumni and Placement Student Tommy Blake is pledging to move 1,000km too so that is another big step to the target too. Rumour has it that he will be swimming quite a lot of that target distance!

Founder of Bike the UK for MS and our Global Director, James Whateley is on the other side of the Atlantic, but that isn’t going to stop him joining in. He is going to move 500km to add to the total.

How far will you #Move4MS in January to help us reach out 130,000km target?

“But what is MS?” I hear you ask.

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves.

Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another.

Today, new treatments and advances in research are giving hope to people affected by the disease.
